Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets tickets - Picking up Where they Left Off
Friday, February 13, 2009

Georgia Tech will play its second Atlantic Coast Conference match against Maryland in a 12 noon match at the Comcast Center in College Park.
The Yellow Jackets will be entering the game on a high having won two of its last 3 games, winning their last non conference schedule against Georgia, 67-62.
In this season, the Yellow Jackets have a lead of 9-5 overall but have lost their first ACC game of the year against Virgina 88-84. The Jackets are 2-2 on the road this year, and were 4-4 on the road against ACC teams last season.
Maryland are 11-3 overall and will be playing their first ACC game of the year. They will have to buck themselves up after a shocking 66-65 defeat to Morgan State at their home. The defeat ended their seven games winning streak. Records are in the favor of the Terrapins; they have won the last six games against Georgia Tech and now lead the series against them 34-33. Over all Maryland has won 11 games of the last 16.
Georgia Tech is in good form and just need to carry it into the match against the Terrapins. Head coach Paul Hewitt haven't made changes to the players starting in the previous seven game, the starting line up included Lewis Clinch, freshman Iman Shumpert at guard. At the front line the Yellow Jackets started with junior Peacock, senior Alade Aminu and sophomore Gani Lawal.
Lawal has scored 17 points per game and has taken 10 rebounds per game, Aminu scored 13.5 points per game and took 8.9 rebounds per game. Both these Yellow Jackets rank in ACC's top five in field percentage with a combination of 56.5 percent shots from the floor.
Clinch is also not far behind; he has scored in double digits in the last six games of the seven that he has started, averaging 14.0 points per game.
Shumpert, at the point guard averages 11.3 points per game; he also ranks second in the ACC in assist average.
Peacock has perfected his outside shooting and defensive skills in the absence of Bell and Miller. He averages 10.6 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.
Not only the starters but the reserves for Georgia Tech are impressive as well. Sophomore Lance Storrs has scored 5 points per game with over 42 percent from the three point range and freshman Nick Foreman averages 2.1 points per game. Foreman has a very strong defense. Brad Seehan, a 7-foot monster averages 4.1 points per game and 2.6 rebounds per game.
Georgia Tech just needs to carry on with what they have done in their recent matches, if they are able to do so they will easily ride past an already shocked Maryland.

Florida State Seminoles tickets - Composure goes a long way

Florida State Seminoles will go a long way. The FSU might have had some dry runs, struggling to score or even take possessions, throughout this season, but if they keep their cool they will surely be able to over ride the impregnable defense of the Dukes.
FSU are younger and will have to play with a lot of patience and maintain their composure, if they have to upset the Dukes. If they don't respond well to the challenge thrown to them, by the stronger Dukes, then a 10-2 Duke run will climb to a 23-2 Duke run.
The Dukes have created havoc on the court, this year. They not only defeated their opponents but left them with nothing at all. The Blue Devils don't only defeat their opponents, they demoralize them and leave them panting on the court.
The Blue Devils, pulverized Virginia Tech with a stunning margin of 30-9 and against Xavier, currently ranked 16 in the country, they extended their 20-3 lead to 31 points just by the half time. With the runs of 19-0 (against Presbyterian), 15-0 (Georgia Southern), 11-0 (Rhode Island), 30-9 (Montana), 23-6 (Duquesne), 27-8 (UNC-Asheville) and 30-12 (Loyola-Maryland), the Devils have emerged as a brute force this season.
The biggest strength of the Devils is their runs; they just don't let the opponents score. They can keep doing that throughout the game and against most of the teams.
But the Seminoles have their advantages as well. The biggest one is playing the Devils at home, instead at Duke. The Seminoles just have to be composed against the game changing Duke runs and keep taking good shots every now and then. FSU need to remain unfazed by the game the Devils play and play the game at their strength, sticking to the strategies that get them shots.
The Devils do get the opposition frustrated by the very nature of the game they play, but still they are not impossible to take shots at. Mature and patient teams succeed in doing so. Like the time both the teams played each other at Tallahassee, where Dukes scored 16 straight points in the first half to take a lead of 17 points, but then Seminoles slowly narrowed the lead and finally surpassed it to lead the game 55-54, but weren't able to maintain the lead and lost in the last 3:45 minutes.
They lost their nerves back then; otherwise they could have defeated the Devils. So it is all about keeping a cool head and not letting the Devils dictate the terms, they will try hard no doubt about it, but with a support from the home crowd, perfect execution of strategies and being composed the FSU can pull off an upset against the Dukes.

Duke Blue Devils tickets - Ready for Curry!

Duke Blue Devils have made special preparations for Stephen Curry, and it isn't just limited to the defense. The crowd will be at its rowdy best. Curry will surely be thinking about that.
Stephen Curry is the leading scorer in the nation and has pull off some exquisite performances; Davidson's NCAA tournament run last season, was one such performance which shot him to fame and the one at Madison Square Garden which proved that the Wildcats (10-2) are big time players was another.
It won't be easy, even for a player of the magnitude of Curry to walk out of the court smiling. The Blue Devils have put on two big winning streaks inside a rowdy and a boisterous building which has a seating capacity of over 9000.
The record shows that the Blue Devils should not worry much about Curry, either. The Blue Devils have a record of 12-1 and are yet to lose a non conference home game in nearly nine full years. The last match they lost at Cameron was in '81 and that too to instate and a non ACC team, the Davidson.
The Devils will be under pressure of not losing a game at their home court. They would like to repeat what they did to Curry two seasons ago, when they defeated Davidson, 75-47.
But that was a game when Curry wasn't the Curry we know today. It was before the last season's NCAA tournament where he led the 10th-seeded Davidson to a spot in the final four.
Curry is the best guard in the country and is a sensational player. He takes shots when ever his team needs and when he does, more often than not, they go in. At present he is not showing any signs of slowing down.
He continues to lead Division I in scoring, even though he had to change his position to point guard and has also been under a lot of pressure from the opposing teams and his fans. Unfazed by all this, he still averages 29.2-points per game.
At Madison Square Garden, Curry delivered when his team needed him the most. The crowd was awestruck and Curry became a phenomenon, each of his 27 shots at the Jimmy V Classic, were ooh-ed by the crowd. He missed 12 of his first 13 3-pointers, but after that he scored 13 of Davidson's final 15 points in a 68-65 victory over West Virginia.
The Dukes have a formidable defense; they are stronger and conceded only 13 points to Virginia Tech in the second half, in their last game and defeated them, 69-44.
Curry will be getting a lot of focus from the Duke defenders. The strong defense will force him to take tough shots and make life difficult for him at the court.
Curry takes most of the shots when he is left free or ignored by the opposition, but the Dukes are prepared and won't let him get out of their sight.

Clemson Tigers tickets - Men this is NOT the Time to Panic!

Clemson Tigers are on a high! And why shouldn't they be. The Tigers haven't lost a match in the 14 games they have played at home, this season and are at 12th spot according to a ranking by Associated Press. The Clemenson Tigers is one of the four teams in the first division, yet to lose a match.
Clemson coach, Oliver Prunell is riding with the success of his team, which can be the best basketball team since 89-90 era, if they defeat Alabama. If the Tigers defeat Alabama then they will have 15 straight wins at their home court, a feat which was previously achieved in ‘89-‘90.
Tigers came from the back in two of the three games it played. But instead of panicking the team responded well to the strategies and the adjustments made by Prunell after the time outs. Against Miami, the Tigers had a poor start and were lagging 21-9, in the initial periods of the game, but after the time out, it was no stopping back for them and they went on a 15-0 run and took the lead which they never lost till the very end and won the match 91-72 victory. South Carolina's early jubilation also lasted when the Tigers overcame the 14 point lead and winning the match 98-87. Clemson also conceded an early lead against Temple, Charlotte, Illinois, Liberty and East Carolina but ended up winning the game.
Prunell changed the strategy for the Tigers against Miami forcing them to the rim, which lead post players Trevor Booker, Raymond Sykes and Jerai Grant to control the game and attacked Miami with the press more. This lead the Tigers to have a season high of 22 turnovers out of which 16 came in the first half itself.
After conceding an early lead in the game against South Carolina, the Tigers made a comeback. Strategies made were perfectly executed and the team adjusted and passed more to Booker, plus they went from a full-court pressure defense to a quarter-trapping defense.
But now the Tigers have a tough challenge in the form of Alabama, which is playing as well as anyone in the country. The Crimson Tide are leading 10-3, and have won five straight games and defeated Georgia Tech in the last game with a score of 88-77. The Clemson Tigers will have to raise the level of their game and play really hard to continue their winning streak.
Alabama Crimson Tide is relying heavily on its guard Ronald Steele with 13.7 points per game, guard Sergio Hillman with 13.7 points per game and forward Alonzo Gee with 14.7 points per game. Alonzo leads the team in rebounds and steals.
Alonzo is big, has long arms and is very athletic. Prunell will have to make a game plan to check this Tide forward. The Tigers need to be well aware of his position on the court; he is great in running off and stealing the ball.
But the Tigers need not panic at such a crucial game; they are well equipped to ride over the Tide. If Prunell comes up with a strategy to defend Gee, then it is very likely that the Tigers will stick to it and pull off the game.
And that is exactly what the Tigers need to do to get themselves registered in the annals of the Clemson as the best team since 1989.
