Boston College Eagles Tickets - Soaring Past Crimson
Friday, February 6, 2009

North Carolina was stunned. The Eagles left them speechless.
Boston College Eagles, defeated North Carolina, 85-78, and most likely ended their run as the No.1 college basketball team and wiping away the hopes of North Carolina going unbeaten. North Carolina enjoyed a lead of around 26 points in its first 13 matches. The Eagles completely outplayed them.
It was Thye Tyrese Rice, playing in his second straight big game, who did the damage and top scored with 25 points. It was a very dedicated and a focused effort from the Eagles which proved their mettle as big time players. The Eagles are currently on a 10 game winning streak and are 13-2 overall. The eagles also are yet to be beaten in their home; they have a perfect 10-0 score at their own court.
With a memorable win behind them, the Eagles will be a formidable force on the court against the Harvard Crimson. The two sides will be facing each other in a non-conference clash. The Crimson have improved on their points to 7-6 as a result of winning three of its last four games.
Harvard which will be starting its Ivy League campaign against Dartmouth, defeated Santa Clara, 73-68 and the Eagles will be its last opponent for the non-conference this season.
With just two losses this season, against Purdue and Saint Louis, and that too with a narrow margin, the Eagles will enter the court as favorites. Boston College owns a commanding 32-9 series lead over Harvard. The last clash between the two took place in 2005.
The Crimson is not expected to give sleepless nights to the Eagles or its coach but its recent form against Santa Clara will surely spread worries in the Eagles camp. Out of the five starting players, four scored in double figures with Jeremy Lin, with an average of over 17 points per game this season and highest number of steals and assists in the team, again outshone others with his top score of 17 points, nine assists against only one turnover and five rebounds. He also recorded three steals. Drew Housman scored 16 points for the Crimson, and Doug Miller posted 15. Peter Boehm also chipped in with his 13 points. Harvard committed just six turnovers and earned a 17-10 edge in points from the foul line.
The Crimson will have a serious challenge in the form of Tyrese Rice, the best player of Boston College roster. Rice is scoring over 17 points per game along with 91 assists, this season. He is also the reigning ACC Player of the Week. Joe Trapani is another player to look out for, with over 13.7 points per game and over 6 rebounds per game. Corey Raji with over 12 points per game and Rakim Sanders with around 12 points per game will stretch the Crimson.
With the Eagles scoring around 78 points per game we can expect a high scoring and an exciting match, but the Harvard team will have to deliver a performance like they did against Santa Clara to limit the Eagles and improve on their record against them.

Washington Huskies tickets - Can Sarkisian Bring a New Vibe to the Team?

One individual can often bring about a change in fortunes of a team – If this statement had to come true, then Washington Huskies definitely stand to gain a lot!
Here is a team that often in the last few games shown how to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Looking at the kind of talent Washington Huskies possess, it really is surprising to see them languishing at any spot below the number 1 position. Huskies’ supporters blame this on a defeatist attitude built up in the players of Huskies.
If that really is the case, consider a lot of talent wasted by the roadside. But with Sarkisian at the helm of the affairs, things could pan out differently for the Washington Huskies. For a change, Sarkisian himself is a man of no mincing words. From the day he arrives at the Huskies, he would make no bones of the fact that he would like to win at all costs. Maybe, this could be the impetus Huskies need.
Huskies for one, cannot boast of missing one thing – Quality players. They have this through all the ranks. They have good quality offensive line players. They have quality running backs. They also have good quality receivers and defense line. Put all of them together, and be surprised that this team has lost so many matches. In essence, this could really be the rarest of rare cases when a team has all the fundamentals in place, yet is not able to deliver the goods consistently.
Yes, there is an odd victory here and there, but considering the quality of players Huskies have, this should be a frequent occasion, not an aberration. People who have been closely following the performance of Washington Huskies term this as individual complacence. People believe that players in the Huskies believe a lot in them but do not believe as a team. Statistically, the percentage of individual runs in Huskies’ games is uncomfortably high. It could yet work out against a couple of teams, but in the long run, may prove dangerous.
Sarkisian for a change though has a problem, which if he wants, can be solved within a matter of days. For starters, he would have to get the team believing as a unit. He must make them think that winning matches is possibly more important than winning a few points here and there. Knowing Sarkisian and his background, this may not be a tough task. Or does it seem so?
You could wake up a person who is sleeping but try waking a person who is pretending to sleep? Given this statement, some hard decisions may be taken by Sarkisian. He has to take them in the best interests of the team, and there are no two ways about it. All said and done, it is for the world to see if Sarkisian can bring about change in fortunes of the Huskies. Well, looking at how Sarkisian manages things, this seems to be a reality!

USC Trojans tickets - Showing UCLA How's Boss

Who is the Boss here? – Seemed the statement of USC players after the drubbing of UCLA. In Pasadena, the USC Trojans absolutely demolished UCLA Bruins and their claims of matching USC.
What turned out during the course of the match was an absolute anti-climax? It seemed as if there was only one team playing the game, and the other was made to do all the running. At least this seemed to be the pattern of play after the USC Trojans were a touch nervous at the start. Maybe playing in front of their home crowd got to them!
Or maybe, the Trojans were thinking of the beating they received from UCLA a couple of years back. Whatever be the reasons, the Trojans found their bearings quickly after they were jolted by an early Bruins’ touchdown. What followed later was absolute carnage! Defensive tackle Fili Meola puts things in right perspective, “Maybe for the first few exchanges, the Bruins were on top. But once we had the ball, we felt the score should be reading 100 something.”
Trojans fell back on their tried and tested combination of having a strong defense. Traditionally, the USC were known to be teams with some exceptional defensemen and after the Bruins touchdown, they knuckled up big time. The offensive lines could move up freely without worrying about what would happen to their citadel. Once the USC offensive line scored their first touchdown, they knew that it would be a matter of time before they take a big lead.
And it happened so. In the next half an hour, the offensive line of the USC ran UCLA defense ragged. Quarterback Sanchez was at the center of things all this while, and played right until the fag end of the game. In fact, he was replaced with just a few minutes to go before the final whistle. Being a quarterback, he did receive his fair share of thumps and hits, but all that for a later date.
For today though, the USC Trojans could be proud of the way they played. For a lot of people, their game was so Trojan-like. You would never feel with them playing that they would get flamboyant. With their rugged determination, USC broke UCLA Bruins down bit by bit finally culminating into a score line of 28-7.
Coming to think of it, this would certainly not be rated as one of the best NFL Games. But for the Trojans, they would rate it simply the best. Two reasons are given – 1) They were able to beat an opponent who beat them couple of years back, and 2) They could overcome the physical game of the UCLA Bruins.
Coming back from a 0-7 lag and beating a team 28-7 is no mean achievement. The USC did this and in process, showed to the UCLA Bruins, who is the boss out here? And in the game itself, each USC player played as if he was the boss indeed.

UCLA Bruins tickets - Is USC too Far Ahead?

The gap between UCLA and USC is too wide to even be mentioned. Needless to say, this is a gap that needs to be bridged by UCLA in all aspects of the game.
“Exasperating; Ridiculous” – These were the chants from the UCLA Bruins’ fans after their 28-7 loss to USC last Saturday. In the post game conference, Rick Neuheisel refused to read too much into the game’s result and quipped that he was positive about next year.
Needless to say, the drubbing his team had received from the USC seemed to have shaken words from his mouth. All that was on display from the UCLA Bruins in no ways suggested that the future for the team is bright. No ways indeed!
For example, the linebackers of USC are far too tall and powerful than the UCLA Bruins’ linebackers. The tailback, the receiver and the quarterback of the USC, all looked like well-oiled mean machines. These were things that UCLA can fantasize about as yet, because they just do not seem to have this kind of weapons in their armory.
The second and most important point to be mentioned here is – What team did Neuheisel play with? For most games under Neuheisel’s leadership, UCLA Bruins started with a lot of freshmen. This is not a bad ploy at all but will work only if the quality of the freshmen is good. Unfortunately, the freshmen for UCLA Bruins did not work, definitely not this season. Else the score line would have read anything but 4-8!
Basically, USC has all the things that UCLA does not have. That includes excellent offensive players, bigger linemen, explosive running backs and reliable receivers. Put all of them together and you get a champion team, which is what USC is! Take all of them out from a team or at least most of them out, you end up with a team that will surely waste a lot of your time and possibly money.
Analyze all the problems of UCLA and you would find one main cause – The type of players! The management admits that good quality players hardly ever come UCLA’s way. This is a scary statement and something that does not hold good for the future of the team. Agreed that last season Rick came in late to the party, but would things change if he is included in the recruitment decisions?
Maybe or Maybe not, but one thing is for sure – At least it will provide a change right there at the basics. In spite of all the money the UCLA management is willing to spend, which by the way is far less than what they seem to speak, good quality players have still managed to elude them. Including the coach while hiring may make a difference. But then, the solution to this problem will take some time. It is definitely not something that could get fixed in a jiffy!

Stanford Cardinal tickets - 1136 Yards Makes a True MVP
| The number of yards any player rushes is directly proportional to the success of the team. This analogy can be best explained by the success of Toby Gerhart! For his feats, Gerhart was recognized with the Frank Rehm Award and also received the Gundelach award. He received the Gundelach award on count of him being the best junior player in the team. Taking a look into each of his 100 yard runs, not to mention the 148 yard run against San Jose, you would find some similarities.
