Hailing from Stillwater – Oklahoma State University are the Oklahoma State Cowboys football college team. They are currently part of the so-called Big12 Southern Division, which happens to be Division 1 Group of the NCAA. Formerly known as the Oklahoma A&M Aggies, the Cowboys joined their first conference during the start of the 1915 season in the Southwest Conference. 1957 was the year the Oklahoma A&M came to be known as Oklahoma State University. A year later, they became part of the Big Eight, which will eventually become known as the Big 12 in the NCAA.
Accomplishments and Important Moments:
The Cowboys’ head coach is Mike Gundy, whose alma mater is also Oklahoma State University and also played for the Pokes. During his playing stint, the Cowboys enjoyed much success because of course, of consecutive ten-win seasons. During this period, 1988, reporters and sports moguls alike have dubbed this as the greatest season in college football history. Former Cowboy Barry Sanders has lead the nation by averaging 7.6 yards per carry and more than 200 yards per game, not to mention his stunt of rushing for over 300 yards in four games. He has trail blazed college football season records and stats with his 2,628 yards rushing, 3,249 total yards, 234 points, 39 touchdowns, 37 of which were through rushing (which happens to be a record as well), five consecutive 200 yard games, scored at least two touchdowns in eleven consecutive games, and for 9 times he scored at least three touchdown. Back in 1988, Sanders won the Heisman Trophy for being the season’s best player.
The Cowboys team still has to get that coveted national title, but boasts 10 conference titles already. They currently have one Heisman award holder, and have had a total of 32 All-Americans who have played for the Cowboys. They have two members who have gone on to become NFL Hall of Famers.

Expect to see more people at the stands, and more games sold out as two of Oklahoma State’s very own have been named to the semifinal lists for two very prestigious awards - Oklahoma State junior Quarterback Zac Robinson and Head Coach Mike Gundy.
The heroic Quarterback Zac Robinson, who recently broke Colorado’s hearts with a 30-17 win last Saturday night, is one of the 15 semifinalists for the Maxwell award, an award presented annually to the nation’s best collegiate player for the year.
Head Coach Mike Gundy is also a semifinalist, this time for the George Munger award. He is one the 15 finalists who may receive the annual award as the nation’s coach of the year. Both honors will be awarded by the Maxwell Football Club. The list boils down to three and will be shown around December in ESPN as part of the Home Depot ESPNU College Football awards. This just adds up to Robinson’s boost as he carried the whole Cowboy squad through a hardfought win against Colorado. He threw for 207 yards and a touchdown, and then ran for another. With Robinson’s heroics, the Cowboys managed to get past slip Colorado even with a very slow start.

The Oklahoma Sooners represent the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma. All teams in the Oklahoma University are given the nickname “Sooners” which came from the name given to the people who participated in the land rushes that opened in the Oklahoma Indian Territory. This land rushes was opened to non-natives who illegally claimed choice land by coming early before the legal time of entry. This is why they were called “sooners”. The Sooners first played football in 1895. The Sooners home stadium is the Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium and the field name is Owen Field in honor of Bennie Owen. The official mascot of the team is Sooner Schooner. The current coach of the team is Bob Stoops who was with the team when they earned their mmost recent title in 2000, the Orange Bowl title.

The Sooners have been playing football even before Oklahoma became a state. Constant accomplishment through time has been the tradition of the Oklahoma football team. They have a very successful legacy and have won numerous awards and titles. They won 7 National Championships. These are in 1950, 1955, 1956, 1974, 1975, 1985 and 2000. They have claimed national championships than any other Big 12 program. They have 41 Conference Titles, the last of which is in 2007. The team have 5 Big 12 Conference Titles and 6 Big 12 South Division Titles. The Big 12 conference were won in 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2007 and the south division titles were won in years 2000, 20002, 2003, 2004, 2006 and 2007. They had 41 bowl appearances and an all-time bowl record of 24-16-1. The team won 7 Associated Press National Championships. With all these titles and awards, they have become the most decorated football team in the Big 12. The Sooners players have also won numerous awards such as 144 All-Americans, 4 Heisman trophies, 5 Outland trophies, 3 Lombardi awards, 18 college football Hall of Fame, 2 Pro football Hall of Fame, and many more.

Sam Bradford, Oklahoma Sooners' quarteback is currently in the running for the trophy, along with Texas Tech's Graham Harell and Colt McCoy. Oklahoma University has a record 9-1 overall and 5-1 Big 12. They spent this week preparing for Texas Tech. Nebraska Cornhuskers College Football Tickets available

The Nebraska Cornhuskers represent the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. They are the most successful program in college football in the last 50 years. They started their football tradition in November 27, 1890, where they won 10 to 0 against Omaha YMCA. The University is a member of the Big 12 Conference. It also competes in NCAA Division I. Early on, Nebraska's football team had various names, e.g., Tree-planters, Rattlesanake Boys, Antelopes, Bugeaters, ld Gold Knights, etc. It was Charles Sherman, sports editor of The Lincoln Star, who gave them their current name, Cornhuskers, in 1899. He was called “the father of the Cornhuskers” due to this. “Blackshirts” is the term given for the the Cornhuskers defense. This nickname was given in 1960 in reference to the black jerseys the first-string defensive players used during practice. The home stadium of the Huskers is the Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska. The Oklahoma Sooners are the Huskers' most notable rival. Tom Osborne was the Cornhuskers' coach that brought them the most number of wins, three of them national titles. He is now its Athletic Director. The current coach is Bo Pelini. Herbie Husker and Lil' Red are the Huskers' two official mascots.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers won five national championships. These were in 1970, 1971, 1994, 1995 and 1997. They also claimed 46 conference championships. In October 14, 2006, the Huskers became one of the only 4 teams in division I-A football to reach 800 lifetime wins.
